Storage Beds: 3 Basic Types
Storage beds offer functionality and practicality which makes them one of the most popular beds today among modern consumers.
The best feature is the storage drawers and compartments that are built right into the bed frames. Small bedrooms can accommodate even a large storage bed because there is no need for extra dressers or chests to store personal items. This frees up additional floor space in many bedrooms. There are many different types of beds from which to choose which makes it easy for just about anyone to find the right bed.
3 Types of Storage Beds
Storage beds are available in 3 basic types.
1) Captain storage beds were the original bed with drawers that were designed to accommodate the captain of ships in times past. That first bed was about the size of a twin bed today, however, the design has evolved to include every size option. You can enjoy a captains bed with drawers in many different designs and styles that are sure to please anyone.
2) The second type of bed with storage drawers is the very popular platform storage bed. These beds generally exude a more contemporary flavor with chic lines and modern finishes. But they still provide any number of bed drawers underneath for storage as well as a plethora of styles and finishes for discriminating consumers. Drawer beds can be found in black and white or other fine finishes which fit nicely with just about any home decor.
3) The third general type of sleep space with storage is a bed frame that is built to add portable drawers that roll or slide underneath. While this type of bed design does not provide a furniture look, like the other two designs, it is very practical and can be found in any size required.
There are also a multitude of bed drawers that can be found that fit underneath a storage bed frame. Some are high quality such as solid wood, while others are made from duct cloth or plastic material. This particular choice of bed is obviously less expensive than the furniture versions of beds with storage.
Before making your final selection, it's important to compare designs, quality, price, styles, and storage designs so that you choose the best bed for your purposes. Don't forget to also consider how much floor space you have available in your bedroom as well as what size storage beds will best fit.
