Full Bed with Drawers: Economical and Practical
A full bed with drawers can be an economical and practical choice for many people, depending on the purpose for choosing this size bed.
A standard double bed measures 54" x 75" inches and is 15" wider than a typical single or twin size bed. For couples who share a full bed with drawers, this allows approximately 27" of sleep space per person. In fact, that is one of the reasons that many couples choose the queen size over a double bed today. After the 1960's, the full bed size became more popular for use in teens rooms, single adult bedrooms or for use in a guest bedroom rather than in couple's bedrooms because of the smaller size as compared to the very popular queen bed with drawers.
Teen Rooms
A growing teen is a perfect fit for a full bed with drawers since a twin bed with storage may not offer enough sleep space for a good night's rest. A double bed that also offers bed drawers underneath adds even more practicality and makes it possible to do without a chest or extra dresser for storage, depending on the amount of drawers that are built underneath the bed frame. You can find a full bed with drawers that offer up to twelve drawers or as little as four.
Single Adults
Many single adults who live in smaller urban apartments or homes prefer to use a double bed size in their bedroom because it allows for more usuable floor space. Choosing a bed with drawers even further makes it possible to cut back on furniture, opening up the floor space even more.
Guest Bedrooms
Guest rooms are a perfect place to keep a full size bed since it will be used less, but also provides an adequate place to sleep for visiting singles or couples. Even though a double size isn't quite as comfortable as a larger size bed for two people, for occassional use, it is a perfect size for guest rooms since it doesn't use a lot of floor space. Also, if you choose a bed with drawers in a full size, it provides extra storage for items all year round.
Important Tip
Be sure to check the bed measurements of any double bed you are interested in to make sure that it is a standard size full bed. Many manufacturers have scaled down the size of standard double beds and advertise them as custom bed sizes. These beds are closer to a 3/4 bed size and are not the full 54" wide. There are several quality manufacturers that offer a quality standard full bed with drawers, so be sure to check out size, features and warranties before you buy a bed online.
